At the Independent Hotel Show Munich, hoteliers, hospitality experts, hotel and property developers, and managers of larger hotel portfolios came together on September 16th and 17th. One topic played a central role in many discussions: how can heating and fresh water systems be economically and reliably managed in hotel operations?
At the fair, varmeco presented various solutions for the heating and fresh water technology in the hotel. From residential units to the hotel lobby eXergiemaschine, different system approaches were presented and their applications in the hotel area were explained.
Heat and potable hot water suitable for hotel operations
Hotels place particular demands on building technology. The water heating demand can vary significantly depending on occupancy and usage. At the same time, reliable supply, high comfort, and compliance with hygienic requirements are important aspects when planning the technical systems.
The varmeco solutions presented can perform various tasks in the heating and fresh water technology. These include, for example:
- the use of existing energy sources and waste heat
- the provision of potable hot water based on demand
- the connection of various heat generators and energy sources
- the coordination of heat generation, storage and consumption
- System solutions for new construction and modernization
Which solution is sensible depends always on the specific circumstances of the building, the heat demand, and the planned system concept.
The eXergie truck makes technology tangible
A special component of the exhibition stand was the eXergie truck. Using the technology and plant concepts presented there, various system solutions could be explained directly.
This enabled the discussions to be focused on specific technical requirements – for example, the use of existing energy sources, the production of hot water, or the combination of different components within an overall system design.

In the Hotel Competence Center in Oberschleißheim near Munich, varmeco is represented. In a realistic hotel environment, various technical solutions can be viewed and individual requirements for the heating and fresh water technology can be discussed.
