In 2013, the Crona Clinic in Tübingen had its drinking water heating system renovated.

The University Hospital treats
around 70,000 inpatients and around 340,000 outpatients every year.

Hot drinking water is provided hygienically via fresh water heaters.

The two dormitories A and B have separate systems. While House B has two storage tanks and two fresh water heater cascades, House A even has three storage tanks and three 4-way cascades installed due to the higher flow rate of up to 645 l/min.

If one fresh water heater in a cascade fails, the other three are still available; in the event of maintenance on a cascade or storage tank, the same system is still available in parallel to supply hot drinking water. With a total flow rate of around 1,000 l/min, the drinking water heating system in the Crona Clinic is one of the largest varmeco systems.
