This is where the eXm-c solves heating technology problems

Initial situation

There is no room for panel heating in the half-timbered houses from the 17th century. Nevertheless, the natural gas heating system was to be replaced by a new, CO2-free heat pump heating system plus pellet boiler. In order to operate the conventional radiators in the only moderately thermally insulated buildings in winter, flow temperatures of up to 60 °C are required. A heat pump would only have been able to do this with poor efficiency. The energy costs would have been correspondingly high.

Result with the eXm

Thanks to the eXergiemaschine (eXm), the heat pump can run in its optimum operating range and deliver 35 or 40 °C. The eXm brings the temperature range up to 65 °C - hot enough for high flow temperatures or for hygienic hot water preparation. The heat pump and eXm together require less electricity than a heat pump alone. As a result, the heating energy costs are 40 % lower compared to the previous natural gas system.

Initial situation

An apartment building with three residential units from the 1970s was heated with oil. Around 40,00 liters of heating oil were required annually. The owner wanted to replace the system with an economical and climate-friendly heating system without replacing the radiators. At the same time, the roof surfaces were to be used for photovoltaic and solar thermal modules in order to reduce the CO2 footprint.

Result with the eXm

The renovation project proves it: With the right technology, a 50-year-old building can be supplied with climate-friendly energy: today, 16 m² of solar thermal system, a 5 kW heat pump plus a 5 kW eXergiemaschine provide heat and hot water. The eXergiemaschine raises the temperature up to 65 °C. A pellet burner is only used on extremely cold days. Thanks to the extensive use of PV modules, the building now generates more energy than is required for heating and household electricity per year. The old building has thus become an energy-plus house.
