Buffer storage tank: central component of the heating technology

Buffer cylinders - also known as heating cylinders - are a container for storing heat and form the heart of your central heating system. Hydraulic integration, dimensioning and quality of the buffer cylinder are decisive for the efficiency of the entire system.

Buffer storage tanks decouple the thermal consumers from the heat generators. They function like a „heat accumulator“, so to speak. This opens up better opportunities to use renewable energies such as Solar thermal energy and other environmental heat, to couple in waste heat or to cover short load peaks, as is often the case with domestic hot water heating. The buffer cylinder also takes care of hydraulic decoupling by connecting the sources and consumers indirectly via Heat exchanger be connected.

Buffer storage prevents energy losses

Another important task of buffer storage tanks is to prevent energy losses and keep temperature mixing processes to a minimum. In other words, to support temperature stratification and store heat at suitable temperature levels. This allows consumers to be integrated appropriately: Surface heating systems, for example, can be operated at a medium temperature level, while domestic hot water preparation can be operated at a high temperature level, as required for hygienic domestic hot water heating. The same applies to the heat sources, which can feed in energy at the appropriate temperature levels. Temperature stratification reduces the need to reheat or mix down the temperature and minimizes the overall energy requirement of the heating system.

Different forms of buffer storage: special storage tanks and series storage tanks

varmeco meets the great importance of the central heat storage tank and its wide range of requirements with an extensive range of buffer storage tanks made in Germany: Serial memory, Special memory and large storage tanks with effective layering systems for the best possible temperature stratification and with effective insulation to reduce heat loss.
Many applications in residential construction can be covered by our extensive range of standard buffer cylinders. Large systems often have a complex requirement profile that can be fulfilled with appropriate special storage tanks. We will be happy to help you with the selection and project planning!

Series buffer cylinder - the uncomplicated solution

Our Serial memory - are available in various versions up to a maximum of 5000 liters, optionally also with permanently welded-in smooth tube heat exchangers for the integration of a solar thermal system.

In the LWSP eXergy storage tank, we have implemented the key requirements for the ideal stratified storage tank with flying colors. It has therefore been an integral part of our product range for years.

eXergie storage tank BackPack is the name of our buffer storage tank to which fresh water heaters and heating groups are mounted directly, optionally with a smooth tube heat exchanger for connecting a single-circuit solar thermal system.

The eXergie-Speicher basic, eXergie-Speicher basic WT and eXergie-Speicher basic 2WT stratified storage tanks are suitable for use as a heat battery in diverse and hydraulically demanding heating systems thanks to their generous number of sockets.

Special buffer storage tank - the tailor-made solution

Our special storage tanks are manufactured to individual customer requirements according to dimensional drawings. Buffer storage tanks up to 12,500 liters are listed, but sizes beyond this up to around 150,000 liters are also possible. A wide range of installations and attachments can be selected in terms of number and dimensions. Equipped with a freely selectable tail unit, the buffer cylinder becomes a Leitwerkschichtpeicher®. We are also flexible when it comes to the choice of insulation. varmeco offers vacuum-insulated buffer tanks up to 60,000 liters or tanks with pre-assembled insulation with variable insulation thicknesses and a fixed sheet metal jacket.

Together we will find the right buffer storage tank for your central heating system!
